LSR (Liquid Silicone Rubber) is a transparent silicone rubber with degrees of hardness between 20 and 90 Shore A. The material is supplied in 20 litre pails or 200 litre barrels, as component A and B; the basic viscosity amounts to between 15.000 to 5 Mio. mPas.

 

 

The material in question is a two-component silicone material cross-linking with platinium, especially rapidly at mould temperatures of 200 °C, thus reaching extremely short cycle times. Given the especially favourable material qualities such as mechanical properties which remain more or less the same for temperatures of between - 50 to + 200 degrees C, products made of liquid silicone are used in many branches of industry.

SilcoS tar 902A /922A


The 2KM SilcoStar machines are high-quality production units. Their powerful hydraulic actuation system centrally operates the pumps. Thus, lateral forces which may appear in case of a mechanical coupling and consequently lead to a rise in wear, may be avoided.

 

2KM SilcoStar metering systems are environmentally safe, as colours and additives are only metered in the injection moulding machine's mixing head. This means that the flushing paths are kept as short as possible, consequently, the loss of material is reduced to a minimum.

 

The units are equipped with a modern PLC control. Machine operation may be effected rather easily by means of only a few switches and hand-actuated auxiliary switches. Control of the machine is done by means of large switching contact manometers (option) which enable the user to survey the excellent function even from a little distance. By means of the switching contacts it is possible to protect the system against lack of material as well as against overpressure.

 

SilcoStar 922A Metering is effected in automatic mode at start signal from the injection moulding machine. Material pressure controllers create a pressure profile which remains identical throughout every single metering cycle. This is especially important in case of very low shot weights, to make sure that an exact filling of the mould is reached.

 

Metering of the A and B components is effected by means of two chop check pumps, at a constant mixing ratio of 1:1. The two pumps are hydraulically coupled and locked via the world-famous 2KM principle. Only two pumps are needed for metering. This means less wear and reduced loss in case of change of material. Given pump and valve packings and seals which do not require maintenance, these works are reduced to a minimum.

 

All 200 litre units may be supplied in open construction 922 or in closed construction 925.

 

When producing coloured silicone items, between 0.3 to 4 % of colour may be dosed. Change of colour is effected easily, rapidly and cleanly by changing the colour feeding pump, as colour is injected by the colour, respectively the additive metering valve directly in front of the mixer.

Central Material Supply


In case items of identical material quality are produced with several LIM machines, a central material supply is an excellent solution. All central feeding stations may be constructed as double stations to guarantee a continuous work without interruptions in case of barrel change. Central colour feeding stations with agitator and filling level sensor may be used for the supply of the LIM machines.
